Smiths Station, AL- Mrs. Mary Nell Barnes, 67, affectionately known as "Mookie", of 61 Lee Road 586, Smiths Station, AL passed Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, October 5, 2013 at St. Paul C.M.E. Church, Crawford, AL with Rev. Johnnie M. Nelms, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 1 - 8 p.m. EST according to Taylor Funeral Home, Inc.
Mrs. Barnes was born May 12, 1946 in Russell County, AL to the late Palmer Lamb and the late Mary Love Baker. She was a member of St. Paul C.M.E. Church, a graduate of Wacoochee High School and had been employed with CIF, Ft. Benning, GA.
Survivors include her husband, Willie James Barnes of Smiths Station, AL; three sons, Michael Hardge and Travis (Tiffany) Barnes both of Smiths Station, AL; James Barnes of Columbus, GA; two daughters, Melissa (Jessie) Foster of Smiths Station, AL and Vernecia (Kelvin) Williams of Phenix City, AL; two brothers, Palmer Lamb, Jr. of Huntsville, AL and Patrick Lamb of Texas; three sisters, Dorothea Lamb of Smiths Station, AL; Mary Nell Lamb of Phenix City, AL and Mary Love Phillips of Waukegan, IL; 17 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
