Phenix City, AL- Maudie Rae Green Lucas, 82, of Phenix City, went to Paradise to be with her Lord and Saviour, Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the Columbus Specialty Hospital under the care of Gentiva Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Stafford Road Church of Christ in Phenix City, AL with Ministers Steve Barnes and Jeremy Green officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Phenix City, AL. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lucas was born August 6, 1931 in Josie, AL, the daughter of Jim W. and Fannie Green. She attended Chattahoochee Valley Community College and was retired as a supervisor at Bell South. She was a member of the Communication Workers of America and the Telephone Pioneers.
She was the widow of Roy S. Lucas. They had fifty-eight wonderful years of marriage until his death in May of 2012.
Mrs. Lucas was baptized into Christ as a young adult and was a member of the Stafford Road Church of Christ. Her faith and her family were the things that mattered the most to her.
Other than her husband, she was also preceded in death by her siblings Clavis Anderson, H. B. Green, and Catherine Outlaw.
Survivors include her children Angela Green (Jerry), Cheryl Barnes (Steve), Gerry Lucas (Lisa), all of Phenix City, AL and Cynthia Philpott (Gary) of Newnan, GA ; her grandchildren Jeremy Green (Karla), Justen Green, Karah Adams (Chris), Brian Barnes (Lacey), Patrick Barnes (Allison), Hayley Barber, Joshua Lucas (Akeba), Jenni Hearn (Ryan), Ashley Wells (Trey), Brent Ingram (Meredith); great grandchildren Mark Adams, Alyssah Adams, Aiden Barnes, Carter Barnes, Leah Barnes, Noah Barber, Lexy Hearn, Wesson Hearn, Raleigh (Ray Ray) Hearn, Ryder Hearn, Aubrey Wells, Sophie Ingram, and Sophie's sibling to be born later this year.
She is also survived by her extended family, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alvin and JoAnne Lucas, of Konawa, OK; her nieces and nephews to whom she was a second mother, her cousins, her Christian brothers and sisters, her friends, and her former co-workers.
