Columbus, GA- Mrs. Willie M. Harris of Columbus passed away Saturday at Columbus Regional Medical Center. She was 72 years of age and resided at 222 Paddy Avenue.
Born in Eufaula, AL on August 20, 1940, Mrs. Harris was the daughter of the late Will and Willie B. Henry Griffin. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Eufaula and was retired from Metra Transit following 15 years as a bus driver. She was also a member of the Veteran of Foreign War. She was preceded in death by her husband, SSG (ret) James A. Harris, and
Surviving are: two sons, Leon Flint (Sonya) and Melvin L. Griffen (Minda); two daughters, Charlotte Simms (Dwayne) and Trichina Flint-Jackson (Randy); six grandchildren, six great grandchildren; four sisters, Lillie M. Zackary, Sarah Thurman, Liz King and Ruby Smith; two brothers, Floyd Lewis and Albert Lewis; three sisters-in-law, Helen Harris, Karen Lewis and Stella Lewis; three brothers-in-law Bert King, Joe Smith and Edward Harris; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Homegoing Services for Mrs. Harris will be held Friday, May 24, 2013 at 10:00 am (EST) at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Hwy 165 South, Eufaula, AL with interment following in Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA. The visitation is Thursday, 2 till 5:00 pm at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence at 8:30 am (EST) the morning of the service.
