Columbus, GA- Mr. Marshel Epps of Columbus, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. He was 92 years old and resided at 507 Fulton Avenue.
A native of Seale, AL and the son of the late Jim and Alberta Hoskins Epps, Mr. Epps was born July 28, 1921.
Living in Columbus most of his life, he retired from Civil Services at Ft. Benning, GA after 30 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Epps and four brothers, Sammie, John, Jimmie and Tommie Epps.
Survivors include two daughters; Rosia Kirk and Birtha Brown; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; three brother, Charlie Epps(Mary Ann), Arthur Epps(Cattie) and Robert Epps(Shirley); three sisters, Alberta McMurray, Pearl Davis and Lillie Bunn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Epps will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL on Friday, March 7, 2014 during a 2:30 P.M. graveside Homegoing Celebration. Military honors will be accorded. Visitation is 1:00 P.M. til 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from 507 Fulton Avenue Friday at 1:45 P.M.
