Columbus, GA- Mrs. Alexandria F. Grandberry of Columbus passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, AL. She was 51 years of age and resided at 203 McCartha Drive.
The daughter of the late Robert E. and Annie Claire Wright Cobbs, Alexandria was born in Richmond, VA on August 27, 1962. She attended Columbus High School and was a graduate of Rivertown School of Beauty where she earned a Master of Cosmetology degree. She was the owner/operator of Grandberry's Hair Design in Cusseta, GA, and was a devout Jehovah's Witness who attended the Oakland Park Congregation. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Thompson, her father-in-law, Vaughn Hixson, and a sister and brother-in-law, Diann Alexander and Ricky Alexander.
Surviving her departure with cherished memories, include: her high school sweetheart and husband of 34 years, Mr. Christopher Grandberry; a son, Steveland Grandberry; two daughter, Christina Doggins (Richard) and Akisha Grandberry; beloved grandchildren, Devon, Daysha', Alana, Quentin, Diane, Kera and Ty'Lashia; her siblings, Edward Cobbs, Mary Thompson and Elainer Hollinhead (Arthur); her mother-in-law, Mrs. Imogene Hixson; father-in-law, Anthony Grandberry; brother-in-law, Vence Grandberry (Stephanie); devoted friends, Loraine Hardrick and Georgia Skipwith; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Grandberry will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 12 noon at the Oakland Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2742 North Lumpkin Road, with Brother Leroy Alexander officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the Kingdom Hall at 11:45 the day of the service. Arrangements entrusted to the staff of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
