Columbus, GA- SSG (Ret.) Woodrow Wilson Miles, Sr. of Columbus passed Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. He was 70 years of age and resided at 142 Mays Avenue.
The son of the late Edward and Ethel Small Miles, Sgt. Miles was a native of Quitman, GA. He was a U. S. Army Veteran who served honorably and retired after 19 years. He was also a Mason. Preceding him in death was a brother, Eddie L. Miles and a sister, Jeanette Ham.
Survivors include: his wife of 45 years, Mrs. Charlie Mae Green Miles; two sons, Woodrow W. Miles, Jr. and Demetrius L. Miles; six daughters, Debbie Gborie (Moses), Sandra G. Mitchell (Robert), Carol L. Williams, Karon Green, Wyteika S. Miles and Chiquita L. Anderson; twenty six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; one brother, Livingston Miles; three sisters, Mary Ethel Miles, Minnie L. Miles and Alene McGough; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Sgt. Miles will be held Thursday, April 10, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Progressive Chapel with interment in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Rev. Chad D. Bryant will officiate. Visitation is Today, April 9, 2014 from 2 until 6:00 pm at the funeral home. The funeral cortege will depart from the residence at 10:45 the morning of the service.
