Columbus, GA- Funeral service for Mrs. Johnnie Mae Thomas, 90, who passed on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at her residence will be conducted on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at Allen Temple A.M.E. Church, 848 Washington Ave. Rev. Wayland Conner, pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery according to the Charles E. Huff's International Funeral Home. The funeral procession will depart from the funeral home, 927-5th Ave. at 11:20 A.M.
Mrs. Thomas was born November 9, 1923 in Barbour County, AL to Mrs. Mary Turner Jones and Mr. Sam Jones. She was a faithful member since 1950 of Allen Temple A.M.E. Church where she served faithfully on the Usher Board, Trustee Board, Gospel Choir, Kitchen Committee, Custodian and many other areas of the church. She worked for the Muscogee County School District for 40 years under 5 different principals. When she retired in 2004 she received a plaque for never missing a day at work. She was preceded in death by two sons, Willie James Jenkins and Johnny Bobby Jones; one grandson, Bobby J. Brinkley and twelve siblings.;
Surviving her departure with cherished memories are; two daughter, Jeweldeen Bush and Reverend Bessie Mahone(Major) both of Columbus, GA; 13 grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren; a devoted son-in-law, Major Mahone and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
