Smiths Station, AL- Ronnie J. Goodson, 59 of Smiths Station, Alabama died Sunday Morning, April 27, 2014 at Columbus Regional Midtown Medical Center following a six month battle with cancer. Ronnie was born February 7, 1955 in Phenix City, Alabama, the son of Viron Oneal Goodson and Christine Inez Williams Goodson, who predeceased him.
Mr. Goodson was a driver/salesman of ABF Freight Systems for 26 years and was loved and respected by his customers and aquaintances. He was a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and member of the Brotherhood and choir at Crawford Road Baptist Church. Ronnie had a real passion for making home-made desserts and sharing his creations. He loved God, family, life, and every person he met. He had a special gift for loving and sharing.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandy Rash Goodson of Smiths Station. One son, Justin M. Goodson and his wife Rachel Maguire Goodson of Phenix City. A 15 month old granddaughter who is the light in his eyes, Lily Ruth Goodson. One sister, Judie Goodson, Phenix City; two brothers and their wives, John D. and Teresa Tillery Goodson, Phenix City and Charles and Dorene Gilbert Goodson of Smiths Station. Niece Dana Goodson and her daughter, Addie Alday; two nephews and their family, Kevin and Kelly Goodson, Tyler and Dalton; Brian and Kristi Brewer Goodson and Jackson of Columbus, GA. Additional survivors include aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends and neighbors. And his canine buddies, Annie and Jake.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Crawford Road Baptist Church with Rev. Marvin Minton officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City. Deacons of Crawford Road Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
