Columbus, Georgia- Jeanne Cummings Flowers, age 61, died May 1, 2014, at Columbus Hospice. A private funeral will be held at the Chapel of the Pines at Parkhill Cemetery with Chaplain Dan R. MacMinn officiating.
Mrs. Flowers was born February 26, 1953 in Columbus, Georgia, the daughter of MR. and Mrs. William C. Cummings Jr. She was a Methodist by faith. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1971 and from Auburn University in 1975 with a degree in Library Science and History. Mrs. Flowers was a member of Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Alpha Theta honaries and Pi Beta Phi Sorority while there.
She married in 1975 and moved to Birmingham, Alabama. She served as a librarian in schools in Alabama, Georgia, and later as a Sports Medicine Librarian at the Hughston Foundation in Columbus, Georgia.
Survivors include her beloved son, Benjamin S. Flowers; her loving mother; sister, Sharolyn and her husband Col. Craig Childress of Fairfax, Virginia; niece, Caitlyn Bergeron and her husband Jason Bergeron; great nephew, Ian Bergeron; great niece, Megan Bergeron of Bristow, Virginia. Survivors also include a very special friend and partner, Raymond Fleming Jr. Also special to her were her caregivers Karen King, Gloria O'Neal and deceased Betty Knuckles; from hospice, Benita Lewis and Tiffany Evans.
