Phenix City, AL- Jean Paul LaPlante, Sr., 69, of Phenix City, AL passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in the comfort of his home.
Memorial services with Military Honors will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 1:00EDT at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Father Dennis Berry officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 prior to the service. A private interment will follow at a later date and the family will receive friends one prior to the memorial service. The Patriot Guard will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. LaPlante was born June 22, 1944 in Manchester, NH to the late Henry LaPlante and Robea Benoit LaPlante. He was a truck driver for FAF Trucking and a Catholic by faith. He enjoyed trucking, motorcycles, tinkering in his shop and spending time with his family. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald LaPlante and Bobby LaPlante and a sister, Lorrain Herbert.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Betty Catherine Hall LaPlante, one daughter, Denise Gross and husband Randy, two sons, Mark LaPlante and wife Jill and Jean Paul LaPlante Jr. and wife Rhonda, one sister, Janet LaPlante.
(5) Grandchildren, Clifford Jean Insco (Amanda), Zachery Preston Insco and Rachel Rosas (Ray), Shania and DJ McCarter, (3) great grandchildren, Kaylee, Emily and Tony, numerous other family members and many friends.
