Salem, AL- John Eldridge "Papa John" LeRoy, 81 of Salem, AL passed away Monday evening, May 5, 2014 at his home in Salem.
Mr. LeRoy was born March 2, 1933 in Seneca, SC and was the son of the late Lemuel LeRoy and Nannie LeRoy. He was retired as a contractor with Sides Drywall. Mr. LeRoy served our country and was a Veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed gardening and working with rodeo horses. He was saved by the grace of Jesus Christ at an early age and served as a Deacon of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. He participated in all the activities he possibly could with his church and family. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Margot Hoffmann LeRoy of Salem, AL, two daughters, Jutta Riddle and husband George "Buddy" of LaGrange, GA and Tonie LeRoy of Salem, AL, two sisters, Edna Wright of Seneca, SC and his twin sister, Evelyn Carson of Marietta, GA, (2) grandchildren, Kristie Mashburn and husband Clyde and Misty Dunn and husband Dusty, (3) great grandchildren, Ashlie Mashburn, Kaycie Mashburn and Tyler Baker, numerous other family members, church family and many caring friends.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, May 11, 2014 during regular church services at 11:30 am EST at Rocky Mount Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the building fund at Rocky Mount Baptist Church.
