Durand, GA- Sarah Elizabeth (Dollie) Crowder, 81, of Durand, died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Hospice LaGrange. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Angie Crummie officiating, assisted by Rev. Gene Davis. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Lee Todd, Kyle Dean, James McVey, Will Godowns, Jimmy Poulson, and Link Mitcham. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Crowder was born July 27, 1932 in Jefferson, GA, the daughter of Charles A. and Sallie Mae Gibson Toney. She worked for many years for Georgia Farm Bureau in Greenville and for Georgia LP Gas in Manchester. Mrs. Crowder was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served in many capacities over the years. She loved her home, and she loved having her family together there to celebrate holidays and simply enjoy family time. Dollie was thoughtful, and she was generous with her time and talents, often doing things for others. Her interests and hobbies included cooking, reading cookbooks, sewing, and watching birds at her home.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Lewis Crowder of Durand; three daughters, Hope Sickmueller and her husband, Marc, of Stuttgart, Germany; Sara Godowns and her husband, Bill, of Pine Mountain; Martha Ann Todd and her husband, Lee, of Greenville; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
