Columbus, GA- Mrs. Barbara J. White of Columbus passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at her home. She was 70 years old and resided at 935 Dozier Street.
A native of Waukegan, Illinois and the daughter of Mrs. Sterline Hopkins Hudson and the late John Willis, Mrs. White was born October 26, 1943. Residing in Columbus for 29 years, Mrs. White had been employed as a Dietician at the Great Lakes V.A. Medical Center in North Chicago, IL. A very devout and active member of Greater Beallwood Baptist Church, she was a member of the Book Club. Other than her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee White; a great grandson, Amari Dalton Harper; two brothers, John Willis, Jr and Jerome A. Hudson.
Surviving are two sons, Jerome A. White(Doris) and Herbert F. White; four daughters, Donna M. White, Celeste Graves(Hiriam), Rosa White and Sharon Davis(Tarvaraska); her mother, Mrs. Sterline Hudson; 25 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; two brother, William Hudson(Cloveine) and Darryl Willis; one sister, Tommie Loc(Terry); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. White will be laid to rest at Green Acres Cemetery on Saturday, June 7, 2014 after a 12:00 Noon Homegoing Celebration in the sanctuary of Greater Beallwood Baptist Church. The visitation is 3:00 PM til 7:00 PM today at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence Saturday at 11:30 A.M. Arrangements entrusted to Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
