Columbus, GA- Mrs. Willie Lucile Ford of Columbus passed away Thursday at the Muscogee Manor Nursing Facility. She was 91 years of age and resided at 1011 Lawyers Lane.
The daughter of the late John Calhoun and Ezzie L. Robinson Maynard, Mrs. Ford was born in Upson County, GA on May 24, 1923. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, and was retired from the Muscogee County School District following 33 years as a dietician. Her last tenure was with Arnold Middle School. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Thomas Lee Ford, a sister, Virginia Robinson, and sister-in-law, Mattie Drakes.
Surviving her departure with cherished memories, include: her loving and devoted friends, Marguerite Brooks, Eva Deloach and Janice Lee; two nieces, Joyce Drakes Olry and Virginia Tamplin; a cousin, Rose Thompson; her loving Church family, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Ford will be Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 12 noon at the Antioch Baptist Church where Rev. Homer T. Mitchell is pastor. Rev. Darrion McCoy will officiate. The interment will follow in East Porterdale Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, 3 til 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church at the hour of the service.
