Columbus, GA- Command SGT Major Frederick Edward Eastmoore, 86, of Columbus, GA. passed away Monday, June 16, 2014.
A memorial service will be held graveside at Fort Benning Main Post Cemetery, Friday, June 20, 2014 beginning at 1:00 P.M. EST, with Reverend Jim Heldebrand officiating, according to Vance-Brooks Funeral Home.
Frederick Edward Eastmoore was born March 5, 1928 son of the late Theodore Eastmoore and Harriett Manning Eastmoore in Jacksonville; FL. Frederick was a dedicated soldier, serving in the United States Army for 30 years. He received the National Defense Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal (9th Award) Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Silver and 1 Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, 2 Overseas Service Bars, Army of Occupation Medal, WWII Victory Medal and Legion of Merit Award. Frederick was catholic by faith and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. In his free time Frederick was a talented wood worker and enjoyed working on cars and electronics.
Other than his parents Fredrick Eastmoore is preceded in death by his devoted wife Betty Jean Eastmoore, two brothers and three sisters.
Frederick was very much loved and will be greatly missed. In deep sorrow remain; daughters, Paula Brookins (Mike) of Canton , GA, Elaine Roth (Jerry) of Montgomery, Al; brother, Gene Eastmoore (Dorinda), of Palatka, FL; grandchildren, Heather Brookins, of Lake City, FL, Shanna Bush, of Roanoke, VA, Donald Fazekas, of Montgomery, AL, Katie Roth, of Montgomery, AL; one great-grandchild, Nicholas O' Donnell, of Roanoke, VA; longtime friend, companion, and care-giver, Helga Pinkley; her son, Dwight Pinkley (Adele), of London, England; her daughter, Ramona Jones (Ken), of Jacksonville, FL; granddaughters, Jillian Altman (Matthew) of Jacksonville, FL, Jenna Paine (Nick) of London, England, Sophie Pinkley of Washington DC, Tarra Pinkley of Afghanistan and great-granddaughter Trystin of Jacksonville, FL.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice Columbus, GA.
