Columbus, Georgia- Mrs. Catherine Joyce Gamble Stover of Columbus passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the age of 72.
The daughter of the late Lewis Sr. and Mattie Harris Gamble, Mrs. Stover was born in Columbus, Georgia on May 4, 1942. She was a 1960 graduate of Spencer High School and obtained her nursing degree from the Grady School of Nursing. She was retired following 30 years of dedicated service as a registered nurse at the Columbus Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of the Greater Shady Grove Baptist Church where she worked diligently with the Missionary Ministry, Choir, Youth Advisor, Hospitality and Kitchen Ministry and the Scholarship Committee. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Lewis Gamble, Jr., Lillian Martin and Margaret Campbell.
Surviving her departure with cherished memories, include: a son, Reverend Daryl Stover; a daughter, Yolande Stover; one grandchild, Bailey Catherine Stover; a sister, Christine Johnson; a sister-in-law, Peggy Gamble; a nephew, Ckoson Johnson (Laura); loving and devoted friends, Barbara Anderson and Johnnie Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Stover will be held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 12 noon at the Greater Shady Grove Baptist Church where Reverend Marcus Gibson is pastor. The interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation is Today, 2 until 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to the staff of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
