Phenix City, AL- Madeleine Ella Letlow Austin, 85 of Phenix City, AL passed away Saturday, June 21st, 2014 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 23rd, 2014 beginning at 11:00 am at Bethany Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmie Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Austin was born April 21, 1929 in Salem, AL to the late Alfred E. Letlow and Mamie Camilla Jenkins Letlow. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whom loved her family deeply. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening, and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Phenix City for over 50 years. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Nix Austin, a son, Larry Austin, and several sisters and brothers.
Mrs. Austin is survived by one son, Brent Owen Austin and wife Lanny of Phenix City, AL, two sisters, Mildred Taylor of Salem, AL and Betty Jo Gottlieb of Connecticut.
(5) Grandchildren, Shawn Austin (Tina), Jennifer Barry, Tiffany Ketchum (Randal), Draper Stanford (Amanda), and Heather Stanford, and (6) great grandchildren, Neely, Tucker, Jackson, Jude, Cameron, Cason, Ava, and Lilly.
