Phenix City, AL- Shelby Jean Maloy Shirley, 76 of Phenix City, AL passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am EDT, Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Mike Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends this evening (Friday) from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.
Mrs. Shirley was born October 24, 1937 in Columbus, GA and was the daughter of the late C. B. Maloy and Edna Braswell Maloy. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Second Baptist Church in Columbus. She enjoyed the opportunity in helping with the children's and homeless ministries of the church. She had a talent for crocheting and making gift baskets that she sold from her home. She was also a member of the Elks Club, the American Legion and the VFW. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Shirley and a brother, Charles Maloy.
She is survived by her son, Billy Flowers, Jr. of Washington State, sister, Linda Corbitt and husband Brad of Seale, AL, brother, Kenneth Maloy and wife Dian of Daleville, AL, friend and former husband, Billy Flowers, Sr. of Lanett, AL.
One grandson, Christopher Flowers and wife Amy of Clarksville, TN, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
