Kenneth Cowling February 20, 1956 - April 2, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA SGM (Ret.) Kenneth Cowling, 54, of 7401 Blackmon Rd., Columbus, died on Friday, April 2, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House. Military funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Friday, April 9, 2010 at Main Post TIC Chapel, Ft. Benning, GA, Rev. Betty Jackson, officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at the Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA according to the Charles E. Huff's International Funeral Home. Viewing will be today from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The funeral procession will depart from 2803 East Wynnton Lane at 11:15 a.m. SGM (Ret.) Cowling was born on February 20, 1956 in Ft. Benning, GA. He was the son of the late Joe Cowling and Juanita Jenkins Cowling. He was a well decorated retired veteran of the U.S. Army and served in The Gulf War, Desert Storm and Desert Shield. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, a three time recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal and four time recipient of the Army Commendation Medal. Survivors other than his mother, Juanita J. Cowling of Columbus, GA, include his wife, Janine L. Cowling of Columbus, GA; four daughters, Tawasher Cowling, Alicia Cowling of Augusta, GA, Chanell Cowling of Newport News, VA and Mariah Cowling of Woodbridge, VA; two sons, Derrick Allen of Atlanta, GA and Ronald Cowling of Clarksville, TN; and a step-son, Tony Mallory of Salt Lake City, UT; four sisters, Verdell Parkman of Lawrenceville, GA, Melanie Spivey (Henry) of Columbus, GA, Anna Chaffin (Tim) of Midland, GA and Donna Shears (Marvin) of McDonough, GA; two brothers, Eric Cowling (Stephanie) of Columbus, GA and Kevin Taylor of Columbus, GA; and a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
