Fortson, GA- Robert Holt Best, born in Sandersville Georgia, passed away Wednesday October 24th 2012 due to heart failure.
He graduated from Hardaway High School, received a bachelor in science from Columbus State University and was an active member of the Tower Society at CSU. After working for Woodruff Landscaping for a number of years, he went on to found Best Landscaping Company and Best Nursery.
Robert, known as Bob, loved fishing, hunting, tennis, traveling, driving his tractor at the Georgia Pumpkin Patch (of Best Nursery), but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. One of his beloved sayings was, "God. Family. Job," and he reflected those values throughout his life.
He was survived by his soul-mate of thirty-three years, Diana Best; his daughter Diana Harbour; his son-in-law Josh Harbour; his son Matthew Best; his daughter-in-law Breanne Best; his younger brother Joe Best; his older brother Richard Best; his precious grandson (giddle) Robert Harbour; his furry companion Raven, and many wonderful nieces and nephews on the Best and Covington sides of the family.
Bob loved his community, reflected by his active involvement in Easter Seals, John B. Amos Cancer Center, Ronald McDonald House, and Azalea Trace. He was most known for his undying compassion, his ability to listen and empathize, and his passion for life. He will be missed deeply by his family, and his many beloved friends and acquaintances. No matter the occasion, he left a trail of smiles, laughter, sound advice and incredible stories in his wake. He always knew what to say, when to say it, and who to say it to.
The family has chosen, as was his wish, for him to be cremated. In lieu of a memorial service or funeral, we ask that any who wish, to make a donation in remembrance of him to Azalea Trace or Easter Seals.
We love you Bob.
