Ft. Lauderdale, FL- Mr. Ike Cooper, Sr., 89, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL formerly of Hurstboro, AL passed Monday, April 15, 2013 at Broward Health Medical Center, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Funeral service wiil be held at 12 noon EST (11:00 a.m. CST), Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Temple of God, Hurtsboro, AL with Bishop Larry Johnson, officiating. Interment will follow in Boromville A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery. Visitation is today from 1 - 8 p.m. EST according to Taylor Funeral Home, Inc.
Mr. Cooper was born December 28, 1923 in Hurtsboro, AL to the late George and Mattie Cooper. He was a member of Boromville A.M.E. Zion Church and retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Mae Cooper of Ft. Laurderdale, FL; four sons, Potcher L. (Lillie) Cooper, Sammie Cooper, James Cooper all of Hurtsboro, AL; Larry (Bessie) Cooper of Camphill, AL; one daughter, Vera Cooper of Hurtsboro, AL; one stepson, William Ford, Jr.; two step daughters, Cathy Curry, Mary Ford; one brother, Charlie Cooper of Birmingham, AL; six sisters, Mary Leonard, Leolia Cooper both of Hurtsboro, AL; Carrie (Raymond) Files of Birmingham, AL; Mattie Lou Riouse of Flint, MI; Ethel Weaver, Annie Johnson both of Wabasso, FL; 15 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
