Columbus, GA- Mr. Emanuel Tolbert Alexander of Columbus passed away on Monday at the Columbus Regional Medical Center. He was 87 years of age.
A son of the late Isham, Sr. and Blanche Tolbert Alexander, Mr. Alexander was born in Columbus, GA on October 11, 1925. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran of 30 years and was a Corrections Officer at Jack T. Rutledge Correctional Facility for 18 years. He was a dedicated member of the Cooper Creek Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his former spouses, Juanita B. Alexander and Hannah S. Alexander; and is siblings, Andrew, Charles, Fred, Thomas, Edward, Isham Alexander, Jr., Mabel Walton, Ella Atwell, Willie M. McBride and Salina A. Perry.
Surviving are: his wife of eight years, Mrs. Carol Turner Alexander; three sons, Emanuel T. Alexander, Jr. (Robin) ,James H. Alexander (Beverly), and Justin Howard; six daughters, Pat Bettis Hunter, Ina Hunter (Robert), Sharon D. Harrison, Demetrica Kennebrew, Bridgett Brown (Julius) and Jennifer Okyere (Seth); a brother, Ernest Alexander; a sister, Blanche Manuel; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Alexander and Jimmie Alexander; a host of loving grand and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Memorial Celebration for Mr. Alexander will be Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Cooper Creek Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5450 St. Mary's Road. Brother Donald Stenson will officiate. The Family Hour will be Friday, 5 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. The family will receive visitors at 2720 Skylake Drive.
