Columbus, GA- Mahalia I. Brown 81, of 202 Warren Williams Road, Columbus entered into eternal rest Thursday June 6, 2013 at Gentivia Hospice-Emory Midtown, Atlanta, GA. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church with the Pastor Rev. Benjamin F. McGruder officiating. Interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery according to Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC. Visitation will be Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 12:00Noon until the funeral hour at the church. Mrs. Brown was born January 23, 1932 in Ft. Mitchell, AL daughter of the late Brady and Alma Davis Battle Island. Mahalia attended public schools in Phenix City, AL, worked as a private duty housekeeper for numerous years and enjoyed friends and family. She had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. Mahalia is survived by her son, Johnny(Noverly)Alexander, Columbus; a special daughter in law, Brenda(Albert)Chambers, Phenix City, AL; a sister, Gloria(Willie B.)Mankings, Phenix City, AL and a host of other relatives and friends.
