Waverly Hall, Georgia- Robert Richard Theis, 68, of Waverly Hall, GA died September 13, 2013.
Funeral services for Mr. Theis will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA with Tom Williams officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service according to Striffler-Hamby. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery with Military honors.
Robert Richard Theis was born June 6, 1945 in LaPorte, Indiana to the late Dorothy M. Raines Theis and Vincent G. Theis. Mr. Theis served his country honorably in the U.S. Army as a SFC during the Vietnam Era Conflict. During his distinguished career he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart (1OLC); Army Commendation Medal (1OLC); Combat Infantryman Badge; and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After leaving the U.S. Army he continued to serve his country through the Civil Service at Fort Benning, GA for a total of 43 years of faithful service for his country (a man of good cheer).
Mr. Theis is survived by his wife, Eugenia Theis; sons, Daniel B. Waters and David C. Waters; daughter, Euleeda V. Van Housen; seven sisters and brothers; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marilyn Bernatovitz; brother-in-law, Tom Riddle; numerous nieces and nephews.
