Phenix City, AL- Mrs. Willie Mae Hicks, affectionately known as "Mudear", 101, of 25 Richmond Park Drive, Phenix City, AL passed Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Midtown Medical Center, Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. EST, Monday, December 9, 2013 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Seale, AL with Rev. Kenneth Thompson, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is today from 2 - 8 p.m. EST according to Taylor Funeral Home, Inc.
Mrs. Hicks was born August 20, 1912 in Russell County, AL to the late Will Cook and the late Mary Robinson Cook. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Seale, AL where she served in many capacities.She had worked as a private domestic worker.
Survivors include a devoted daughter, Jessie L. Munn of Phenix City, AL; five grandchildren, Connie (Christopher) Bell of Ft. Mitchell, AL; Barbara Taylor of Columbus, GA; Faye McKissic of Macon, GA; Gregory (Tasha) McKissic and Darnell McKissic both of Phenix City, AL; 15 great grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren;one great-great-great grandchild; one sister-in-law, Christine (William) Lawrence of Tallahassee, FL; three brothers-in-law, James Arthur Lee and Neil Andrew Lee both of Florida and Franklin Wellborn of Phenix City, AL; one grandniece and nephew, Shirley and Michael Tony; a dedicated niece, Ella (Thomas) Mathis along with faithful friends, Ann Jones and Gloria Hughes.
