Columbus, GA- Mr. Carmelo Colon-Gaudinot of Columbus passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at his home. He was 62 years old and resided at 1842 Somerset Avenue.
A native of Ponce, Puerto Rico and the son of the late Sotero Colon and Antonia Gaudinot, he was born July 13, 1951.
Residing in Columbus for over 30 years, he was employed as a Mail Clerk in Civil Services and was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Evangelical Church.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah Gates Colon; three sons, Carmelo A. Lee(Veronica), Carmelo Colon, Jr and Robert Colon; four daughters, Melissa Santiago(Rafael), Cielo Colon Sonie(David), Nicky D. Plater and Antonia Colon-Tynes(Carlton III); a step-daughter, Tameka Gates; twenty grandchildren; four brothers, Pedro Colon, Roberto Colon, Jose Gonzalez(Carmen) and Miguel Colon; three sisters, Gloria Colon, Nilda Gonzalez and Juna Colon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be conducted 12:30 P.M. Friday, February 21, 2014 at the National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL. Chaplain CPT Rodie Lamb will officiate. Rev. David Holston will deliver the Eulogy. The cortege will depart from the residence Friday at 12:00 Noon. Arrangements entrusted to Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
