Charles Alfred Lord, 86, of Peterborough, died at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 11, 2013.
Charles was born January 18, 1926 in Natick, MA the son of Arthur W. Lord and Ruth Blanchard Lord.
His parents moved within a few years of his birth to Francestown, NH. He grew up in Francestown, attending the elementary grades and graduated from high school in nearby New Boston, NH.
Upon graduation in 1944, he enlisted in the Army
Air Corps and was honorably discharged in 1946. In 1951 he attended the Colorado School of Trades. Upon returning to NH, he became employed by New Hampshire Ball Bearing. During Charles' 39 year career he is credited with helping to open NHBB's Laconia Division. During that time he resided in Meredith, NH for 10 years. Charles enjoyed fishing, watching nature, and growing vegetables. He was known to be generous by giving away samples of his hard work. Above all else, family was the most important part of Charles' life and he cherished every moment with them.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of more than 62 years, Patricia Pratt Lord of Peterborough; his son Donald Lord and his wife Loretta of Marlborough, NH; his sister Frances Hentley of Camden, ME, and his cousin Dot Denman of Reedsport, OR, as well loving nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his sister Pauline (Polly) Hanns, his cousins Ruth Moore and Grace Bunker; his nephew Joel Hanns.
Visting hours will be held on January 19, 2013 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at the Monadnock Congregational Church 120 Wilton Road Peterborough, NH 03458, followed immediately by a funeral service at the Monadnock Congregational Church. Friends and family are warmly invited to stay for a reception following the service.
