ASHBY, Mass. - Christopher Alan Steele passed away at his home on April 6, 2014, after a long battle with cancer.
Chris was born on Jan. 6, 1953, and lived in Greenville and Mason before moving to Ashby, Mass. He graduated from Mascenic High School in 1971. He worked as a sprinkler fitter most of his life before retiring in 2008. He was an avid Nascar fan and attended races in Louden and Daytona, Fla. He raised beagles for hunting rabbits and was a member of the Eastern Massachusetts Beagle Club.
He leaves his wife, Jan (Philbrick) Steele, his daughter, Kristen and husband, Brett Kivula, his son, Jeff and friend, Shelby.
He also leaves four stepchildren and their spouses, Jesse and Tania Philbrick, Katie and Steve Malerba, Russ Philbrick, John and Jen Philbrick.
He leaves 10 grandchildren, Alaina and Brady Kivula, Christopher and Trinity Steele, Curtis, Liz and Connor Pomerleau, Brady and Makayla Philbrick, and Arial Anderson.
He also leaves behind a brother, Mike and his wife, Denise. A brother, Matthew and sisters, Jen and Bob Howe, Pam Button, Robyn Steele, Heidi and her husband, Mike Thibault. His dad, Fred Steele, and friend Doris. His former wife, Heidi Kinsinger, the mother of his children.
He will be missed by all who knew him for the wonderful man he was. There will be a celebration of his life on April 19, 2014 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, New Ipswich Road, Ashby Mass.
