JAFFREY - Jack Walter Trammell, 70 of Jaffrey, passed away Thursday Feb. 6, 2014, after a long term illness with his family by his side.
He was born in Olympia Wash., April 11, 1943, son of Walter and Marilyn (Stockton) Trammell. Jack was raised in California and joined the Navy in 1960 and served during the Vietnam War
until he was honorably discharged from active service in 1968.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Judith Trammell, his three sons Jack and his wife, Tony, Jon and his wife, Patricia, Joel and his wife, Colleen, his brother Lee Trammell and his wife, Dawn of Ohio, his sister in-laws Marsha Mills of Rindge and Joan McMinn of Hillsboro and his many nieces and nephews and his 11 grandchildren. Also, his extended family that him and Judy met through the years at the Jaffwood Apartments.
Jack moved to New England with his family in 1972 from California and graduated from Mount Wachusetts Community College in 1976 with a degree in art. He opened his first art gallery in 1978 "House of Art" in Jaffrey until 1983 teaching local residents. His artwork has been featured in galleries in California, Texas and throughout New England. Jack designed cover art for various video games in the 1980's. In 2007 he ventured back into the arts with his second gallery in Jaffrey. Along with his artwork, Jack was an established musician and music teacher that played in numerous venues across the globe as a guitarist and singer. For the past twenty years, Jack has been the property manager of the Jaffwood Apartments.
A gathering in Jack's honor will be held at the American Legion Hall in Jaffrey on Feb. 28, 2014, between the hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
