MADISON, Maine - Richard Allan Plourde, age 71, passed away peacefully with family members at his side on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Maple Crest Nursing Care Center, in Madison, Maine after a long period of failing health. Richard was born in Skowhegan, Maine, May 17, 1943 the son of Robert Luke and Mary Jane (MacDonald) Plourde. Richard was a resident of Madison for the past 22 years.

Richard was educated in the schools of Skowhegan and Graduated from Bloomfield Academy in 1961. He is a Veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He then worked at Sam Boyd's Gulf Station in Skowhegan until it closed. Following his years as a mechanic he became a custodian at MCI in Pittsfield, as well as for several schools and department store chains.

He is survived by his companion of 22 years, Ernestine A. (Hinkley) Worthley of Madison; three daughters, Lea Anne Marashio and her husband, Peter Jr. of Woburn Mass., Michelle Lea Plourde-Eddy and her husband, James of Rindge, Anne Thoits and her husband, Chuck of Contoocook; two brothers, James T. Plourde Sr. and his wife, Marge of Skowhegan, Maine, Robert L. Plourde and his wife, Esther of St. Albans, Maine; a sister, Leona M. Turcotte and her husband, Harold of Norridgewock, Maine; several grandchildren including, Amanda Lynn Morrill, Jamie Lynn, Lindsey Jane, Kristina Marie and Peter Joseph Marashio III; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Richard loved to spend time at his Aunt and Uncle's Camp. He loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed anything pertaining to Elvis Presley, watching the Miami Dolphins and College Basketball. He also enjoyed playing cribbage (especially the occasional double skunk) and spending time with his family.

In Lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation in his memory to: Department of Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, 284 State Street, Augusta, Maine 04333.

There will be a private Celebration of Life at the convenience of the family. At the request of the family there will be no visiting hours or funeral.
