TEMPLE - Mary Elizabeth (Wilson) Schubert, 83, of Temple, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2013, surrounded by her family.

She was born on January 17, 1930, in Lynn, MA, daughter of Everett James Wilson, Sr. and Sarah (Bucknam) Wilson. On September 12, 1953, in Chicago, IL, she married Edward Thomas Schubert, son of Thomas Lawrence and Amelia Byzinski Schubert. They had three sons: Edward Thomas, Robert John and Richard Paul. Mary is survived by her three sons and seven grandchildren: Kathryn, Tristan, Edward, Kimberly, Anica, Amy and Brian. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband and brothers, Everett James (Jim) Wilson of Temple and Frank B. Wilson of Manchester, CT.
Mary had a lifelong love of learning and was an avid reader on many subjects. She received a B.A. in Mathematics from Vassar College in 1951, a Master's Degree in Mathematics from the University of Chicago, and completed extensive work toward a Ph.D. in Mathematics. Prior to raising a family, Mary worked for IBM as a computer programmer in the late 1950s and later in life as a tax preparer. She was active in community affairs and as a devout Roman Catholic, Mary served in many roles including as a member of the St. Vitos (Mamaroneck, NY) Pastoral Council and the Archdiocese of New York Pastoral Council. Mary blended her love of knowledge and her faith throughout her life by continuing her religious studies and participating in numerous academic and religious programs. Mary and her husband Edward lived in Mamaroneck, NY, for roughly 40 years and retired to Mary's family home in Temple.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Peter's Church (Divine Mercy Parish), 18 Vine Street, Peterborough, on August 30 at 11 a.m.
