FITCHBURG, MASS. - Virginia Lott (Sampson) died Oct. 2, 2013, at home in Fitchburg, Mass., after a brief illness. Ginny was born on March 10, 1943, in Peterborough.

The family lived in Peabody, Mass. for a few years before moving to their Greenfield home in 1954. Ginny attended local schools and graduated from Peterborough High School in 1960. She spent most of her adult life living in South Carolina, as well as living for several years in Bogotá, Columbia, before returning to the New England region in 2004.
Ginny was an avid reader, enjoying mystery and suspense novels. She loved to travel and one of her favorite places to visit was Tybee Island, Ga. While living in South Carolina Ginny became a fan of the University of South Carolina football team and she continued to root for the Gamecocks after moving back north.
Family was always important to Ginny. She welcomed visits with her parents, brothers and their families wherever she was living at the time. Ginny was predeceased by her parents, John and Ann Sampson. She is survived by her daughter, Cris Maxwell, Cris' husband, Shawn, and his daughter Alicia, her brother John, his wife, Eileen, her brother Donald, his wife, Diane, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are handled by Brandon Funeral Home in Fitchburg, Mass. There will not be any calling hours.
Donations to the Fitchburg Public Library in Ginny's memory are suggested by the family.
