PETERBOROUGH - Carmen Soto, 74, of Peterborough, died at her home on Oct. 30, 2013. Carmen was born in New York City in November 1938, the daughter of Raphaelle Velez and Eloisa Velez Cuevas.

Carmen spent most of her life in New York City and Puerto Rico but for the last decade she resided in Peterborough.
She was extremely committed to her family and friends and enjoyed cooking for relatives, neighbors and anyone who walked through her door. She was quick to laugh and made friends easily.
Survived by her daughter, GiGi Elliott and son-in-law, Ross Elliott, of South Portland, Maine, brothers, Julio Velez of New York, N.Y., and Louis Daboin of Florida.
Carmen was pre-deceased by her husband, Larry Soto (1975), and her daughter, Lisa Soto (1977).
A memorial mass will be held on Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Divine Mercy Parish, 18 Vine Street, Peterborough. Burial will take place at a later date at the National Cemetery in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Carmen's name to the COPD Foundation, 2937 SW 27th Ave, Suite 302, Miami, FL, 33133.
