PETERBOROUGH - Ruth Isabel (Flanders) Hight Woodbury, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 12, at Catholic Medical Center. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Philip J. Woodbury Jr. of Peterborough.

Ruth was born in Weare, daughter of the late Harold V. Flanders and Irene (Lowe) Flanders. She was preceded in death by brother Harold F. Flanders and sisters Jane (Flanders) Jenkins and baby sister Dorthea.

She lived in Munroe Falls, Ohio for 16 years and has resided in Peterborough for the last 40 years.

Ruth graduated from the University of New Hampshire as an Occupational Therapist and received a master's degree from Kent State University.

While living in Ohio, she worked for the Arthritis Foundation, Fallsview Psychiatric Hospital and Weaver School & Workshop. After moving to Peterborough she worked for the Visiting Nurse Association.

She was a former member of the First Congregational Church in Akron, Ohio; and the Bennington Congregational Church, Bennington. She also attended, served as Treasurer and helped to plan summer services for the South Weare Union Church, Weare. Ruth was a member and former Worthy Matron of the Themis Chapter Order of Eastern Star, formerly of Peterborough; and also a member of Portia-Henocon-Asteria Chapter O.E.S. of Hillsboro. She has been involved with the Crop Walk, Monadnock Council of Churches and Monadnock Choral Group.

Raised on a poultry farm Ruth loved the out of doors. She loved skiing, skating, snowshoeing, hunting, ice fishing, square dancing, gardening, needlework and baking, just to mention a few. She received many ribbons and prizes at the County Fairs for her baking. She loved going to Peggy Cappy's yoga class held at the Unitarian Church in Peterborough. Ruth was also a great lover of music, particularly classical, with a fondness of New Hampshire composer Edward McDowell.

She is survived by her son, Harold (Mary) Hight, of Munroe Falls, Ohio; daughter, Marilee Bovard, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Stepchildren; Philip J Woodbury III (Cheryl McArthy) of Greenfield, Martha (John) Schler of Laconia, Cynthia Woodbury of Concord, Laura (John) Gautier of Hillsboro. Grandchildren; Joshua Bovard (Chelsea), Jennifer Edelen, Jacob Bovard, Amanda (Patrick) Haney, Allison Hight, Travis Woodbury, Holly (Sumner) McFarland, Kristin (Joe) Mayo, Paul Rebekah Schler, Mary Katherine Schler, Nathaniel Gautier. Great grandchildren; Hunter, Taylor, Brooke, Justin, Riley, Lily, Kirea, MacKenzie, Isaac, Benjamin and Abigail, Mikah and Eden. Preceded in death by two grandchildren Mary Gautier and Matthew Gautier.

Please join us for a memorial service to celebrate her life, which will take place Saturday, March 29, 1 p.m. at the Unitarian Church, Peterborough.
