John Draper Genet Jr., 78, of Peterborough, NH died on February 6, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Wilmington, DE on December 21, 1934 to John Draper Genet Sr. and Ethel H. Genet.

John earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Florida in 1965 and served in the United States Air Force. He went on to work for General Electric and later DEC as an engineer until his retirement in 1995. He met Wilma on a blind date and they were married on March 30, 1957 in Luray, VA. Together they have lived in Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and finally settled in Peterborough, NH in 1985.
John worked for the National Ski Patrol at Crotched Mountain and Ragged Mountain for more than 35 years. He loved to ski and was proud to be on the patrol. John was an avid photographer and had been a member of the Monadnock Chorus for several years. He and his wife were also active members of the Monadnock Congregational Church since its founding in 1988.
John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wilma Genet, his three sons, John Genet III of Colorado Springs, CO; James Genet of Murfreesboro, TN; and Joseph Genet of Merrimack, NH, and his daughter Joyce Genet LaPointe of West Springfield, MA. He is also survived by his sister Mary Louise Nixon of Moreland, GA. John will be missed by his 9 grandchildren, Gina, Danielle, Carli, Eli, Jeff, Brian, Nathaniel, Isabelle and Anne. He also has one great-grandchild with an anticipated July birth date.
A memorial service will be held at The Monadnock Congregational Church, 120 Wilton Road, Peterborough, NH on Sunday February 10, 2013 at 2:00PM with Pastors Tim Jantos and Stuart Nutter presiding. A private family burial will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery in Peterborough, NH
In Lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in John's memory to the Monadnock Congregational Church 120 Wilton Road, Peterborough, NH or Home Healthcare and Hospice Community Service, P.O. Box 496, Peterborough, NH.
