Richard W. Pierce, age 89, of North Falmouth, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at home while surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Charlotte (Wendt) Pierce to whom he was married for 65 years.

Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Parkman and Alice (Coughlin) Pierce. Richard attended Milton Academy and graduated from Westminster Academy.
He was accepted to Harvard University for the fall semester in 1943 before being drafted in to the U.S. Army where he served in the 7th armored Division. He was the proprietor of the Peterboro Basket Company in Peterborough, NH until his retirement in 1983.

Richard enjoyed golf, tennis, swimming, and traveling. His most memorable moments were the time he spent enjoying his children, grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Charlotte, he is survived by his three children: Charlotte Cortz of Laconia, NH; Arnold and his wife, Mary, of Laconia, NH; and Heidi Zwiemuller and her husband, Gunther, of Los Angles, CA. Richard is also grandfather to Timothy Aither and his wife, Jennifer, of Ripon, WI; Christian Pierce and his wife, Jessica of Tucker, GA; Nicholas Pierce and his wife, Courtney, of Boston, MA; Natalie Heidi Zweimuller and her companion, Lucas, of Newfield, NH; Gunter Richard (Fuzzy) Zweimuller and his companion, Becky, of Arizona, and the late Jeffrey Aither. He is additionally great-grandfather to Joseph Zwiemuller and Isabella Zwiemuller, both of Newfield, NH and Parkman Arthur Pierce of Boston, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews. Richard is also brother of Jean Stetson of New Jersey and the late Carolyn Williams and Barbara Clements.

Visiting Hours will be Tuesday, April 30th, from 4 to 7 PM at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Hwy, Route 28A, West Falmouth. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday May 1, in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Quaker Road, North Falmouth. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Falmouth.
