Jeffery Ray Payton was born on Oct. 17, 1956, to the late Carl E. Payton, Sr. and Mildred L. Payton in
Munich, Germany.
He was member of the New Willow Baptist Church in Leesville until he met and married his wife, Barbara Lynn Berard Payton, in 2002. In this union, there were four step-children. After his union with Barbara Lynn Berard Payton, he relocated to Lafayette.
Jeffery was affectionately known as Barry White. He loved cooking, fishing and helping others with a
kind, unselfish and generous heart. Jeffery was an extraordinary man with a unique soul that loved hard and unconditionally. He spent many years spreading his love for cooking while working as a head chef for Hercules Offshore, Inc.
Jeffery was always a brother to a brother, a loving husband, a dedicated step-father, a doting grandfather, a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews and a caring friend. A day never went by without him reaching out to his family and friends. His willingness to give as well as to receive granted him much respect. He will always be cherished in our memories.
