Arthur Wayne Juntunen passed away on April 7, 2023, at the age of 78. Arthur was born in Toledo, Ohio to Wayne and Ruth Sloan Juntunen on March 13, 1944. He grew up in Toledo, Ohio alongside his brother, William H Juntunen. The two brothers shared a lifetime of memories, as well as a deep love and respect for their parents. During his junior year, Arthur left Southfield High School in Southfield, MI., to begin his military career of 29 years, with the United States Army.
Initially entering the Infantry, he progressed to Special Forces (Green Berets), and then went into the Army Medical Department. He also would serve as the Recruiting Command and instructor at the Army's Academy of Health Sciences. Arthur would also go on to study Chemistry and Biology at Saint Mary's of Texas in San Antonio, TX. During his military career he served in Europe, Japan, Vietnam, and throughout the United States, and in the first Gulf War.
After his retirement from the US Army in 1995, civilian business in 2000 as a Computer store owner, and then finally in 2006 with the Federal Civil Service as a program manager, Arthur moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to settle down in a quiet retirement community with the golf course as his backyard. Arthur had a love of classical music, enjoyed playing the violin and flying planes, during which time he had acquired a commercial pilot's license (SEL) as well as a parachutist's license ("D" level).
Arthur is survived by his four daughters: Christine Zepeda (Mark Zepeda) of Victoria, TX; Deborah Little of Corpus Christi, TX; Janet De Los Santos Sertuche of North Las Vegas, NV; and Victoria Juntunen of Katy, TX.
Arthur's greatest joy came from being a grandfather/great-grandfather. He is survived by his 7 grandchildren: Adam Juntunen (Stephanie) of Cuero, TX; Kristi De Los Santos Cordova (Jerry) of Victoria, TX; Justin De Los Santos (Cynthia) of Victoria, TX; Sarah Zepeda Patek (Kevin) of Victoria, TX; Misti De Los Santos of Refugio, TX; and Leslie Zepeda of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
Arthur is also survived by his brother, William "Bill" Juntunen (Artha Mae) of Middlebury, IN, nephews, William "JJ" Juntunen of Evanston, IL and Thomas "Tom" Juntunen (Nicole) of Phoenix, AZ, and his niece, Tara Juntunen Bokina (Jason) of Atlanta, GA.
