ADRIAN - Juan Pérez-Medrano, age 66, of Tucson, Ariz., passed peacefully in the presence of his sisters on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at 7:50 p.m. due to complications of bilateral pneumonia. He was born in Adrian on Oct. 22, 1951, to Albino Pérez Sr. and Elvira M. Pérez.
Juan graduated from Adrian High School in 1969, attended the University of Arizona for his bachelor's and master's degrees and received his juris doctor from the Law College of Arizona.
Juan, through his law firm, served the needs of his clients for over 34 years. He was honored as pro bono attorney of Pima County, Arizona, for over two decades.
He served in the U.S. Army and is a Vietnam veteran. He was a lifelong member of the YMCA, an avid sports enthusiast, a musician and a karaoke aficionado. His greatest passion was his familia and friends.
He is survived by his brother, Professor Emeritus Albino Perez Jr. and his wife, Janet, of New Haven, Ind.; five sisters: Grace M. Weidaw and her husband, Dr. Clark D. Weidaw, of Toledo, Ernestine "Teena" Perez of Adrian, Andrea Morin Perez and her husband, Rudy Morin, of Adrian Township, Josefa Egginton and her husband, Mark, and son, Alexander, from Invercargill, New Zealand, and Maria Perez of Toledo; an uncle, Roman Perez and his wife, Alice, of Adrian; Jim Hutchinson, his brother and friend; treasured nephews, Joseph LeVeque (Shannon) from Boca Raton, Fla., Jameson and Aaron (Lisa) Reed and family from Adrian; nieces Dana (Keith) Arnold of Madison, Wis., and Dr. Blake Ann Weidaw of Austin, Texas; many great and great-great nieces and nephews. His parents preceded Juan in death.
The funeral liturgy for Juan will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Tommy Kattikanayil as celebrant. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A luncheon will be held immediately following the Mass in Father Williams Hall at St. Joseph Church. Interment of cremains will follow the luncheon at St. Joseph Cemetery at 1029 Oakwood Road.
