ELIDA – Terry L. Shrider, 75, passed away on January 13, 2021 in Venice Florida of a sudden illness.
Terry was born August 16, 1945 in Lima to George Harold and Norma Talley Shrider. His father preceded him in death.
He was a 1964 graduate of Lima Senior High School.
Terry was a member of the Lima Fraternal order of Eagles, Lodge #370, a life member of Lima Elks Lodge #54, and Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533.
Terry was a people person; he never met a stranger. He volunteered for several years at Mercy Health-St. Rita's Medical Center at the 770 and 830 reception desks. He also volunteered for many years at Lima Correctional Institute on Saturdays in a weightlifting program where he received the Volunteer of the Year Award and was invited to Columbus to have lunch with Gov. Voinovich.
Terry was an avid follower of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy of Elida: two sons Troy of Perrysburg, James (Melodie) of Elida. Three grandchildren, Hillary Ann Shrider and Landon Wyatt Shrider both of Perrysburg and Isabelle Victoria Shrider of Elida. Two step-grandchildren Adam Gass and Aubree Gass both of Tampa Fl. He is also survived by his 94 year old Mother, Norma Talley Shrider of Punta Gorda FL., his sister Sharrene Shrider of Punta Gorda, FL, a brother Rick H. (Donna) of Bluffton, S. Carolina, a brother Michael K. Shrider of Lima, brother-in-law Michael Foley of Lima, many nieces and nephews and his faithful companion PJ (AKA Killer).
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant sister Deborah Jan Shrider.
A "Celebration of Life" service will be held June 5th at twelve p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lima with visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
