DELPHOS — Robert E. "Bob" McConnahea, 83, died at 11:21 a.m. March 1, 2014, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Mechanicsburg to Robert and Rosa Gordon McConnahea, who preceded him in death. On Jan. 11, 1957, he married Mary Wibley, who survives in Spencerville.
Mr. McConnahea loved a good cup of coffee. He was an excellent fisherman, landing many big ones. He was a very skilled woodworker and craftsman, making rocking horses, carousels and dream catchers. His true love was his family, especially his grandchildren, passing his many lessons on to them. He also loved a good long walk. He was a member of American Legion Post 268 in Delphos and had been a founding member of Rolling Thunder Ohio Chapter 6. He retired from Fruehauf as a welder after many years of service. He was an Army veteran, serving six years in a tank company during the Korean War. He also qualified as a mortar marksman. He had earned the Good Conduct and National Defense Service medals. He also served in the Army National Guard and ROTC. Being a patriot was a part of his life and earned him induction into the Color Guard Hall of Fame.

Neal (Jennifer) McConnahea, of Delphos; a daughter, Jeanne (Mike) Osting, of Delphos; and 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Wenger; and three brothers, James McConnahea, Edward McConnahea and Roger McConnahea.
