James Steward


LIMA — James F. Steward, 75, died at 9:55 a.m. Nov. 12, 2013, at his residence.

He was born March 19, 1938, in Butte, Mont., to Oscar S. and Margaret I. Owens Steward, who preceded him in death. On April 29, 1989, he married Yvonna B. Norris, who survives in Lima.

Mr. Steward retired in 2012 as a truck driver after 45 years and driving most recently for MTS Truck Lines. He had also been a driver for Dot Truck Lines and Top Line. He was a life member of American Legion Post 96, where he had served as commander and in other capacities, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, Spencerville, the Disabled American Veterans, Findlay, and AMVETS Post 1, Lima. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691, Wapakoneta. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a big sports fan. He truly loved his family, with his grandchildren being his pride and joy. He was a Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War.

Survivors also include four stepchildren, Rodney D. Norris, of Lima, Kendra D. Norris Thomas, of Taylorsville, N.C., Kathy D. Adams, of Lima, and Randy D. (Melissa) Norris, of Columbus; 12 grandchildren, Kayla Hawkins, Kyla Sturgill, Jenna Shaver, Keaton Norris, Alexa Adams, Alivia Adams and Austin Adams, all of Lima, Logan Thomas, Landon Thomas, and Addisyn Thomas, all of Taylorsville, N.C., and Lauren Norris and Jerod Norris, both of LaGrange, Ind.; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Tipton, of Old Washington, Betty Molisee, of Lore City, and Edith Warne, of Salesville.

Private memorial services and burial will be held at a later date.
