James Stout


WESTMINSTER — James E. "Jim" Stout, age 72, of Westminster, died at 12:42 pm Friday, April 11, 2014 at South Bay Hospital in Sun City, FL.

He was born Nov. 14, 1941 in Lima, OH to Charles "Pete" and Esther (Ditzler) Stout. On April 15, 1961, he married Alyce Erickson, and she survives.

Other survivors include 2 sons, Michael (Andrea) Stout, Westminster, Scott (Traci) Stout, Cridersville, daughter, Julie (Alan) Sneary, Westminster, 11 grandchildren, Adam (Abby), Alex (Danielle), Joshua, Jacob, Jon, Bridgette (Justin), Cody, Max, Tyler, Kierstin, Trent, 5 great grandchildren, Arya, Cale, Ryleigh, Bentley, and Jeremiah. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Stout.

Jim was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church and attended Crossroads Church of God. He was a 1959 graduate of Harrod High School, worked at Roundy's, (formerly Scot Lad Foods), and was a farmer. He was a 4H advisor for 45 years, with the Auglaize Agriculture 4H Club, Superintendent of the Swine Barn for 32 years, a member of the Allen County Fair Board for 10 years where he served as President for several years. A member of the Ohio Fair Manager Association where he was named District Director of the Year in 2004. He was selected for the Allen County Fair "Walk of Fame". He served as a volunteer fireman with Westminster Rural Fire Department for 42 years where he served as Assistant Chief for several years. He served on the Allen East School Board from 1978-85 and was a board member of Apollo JVS during that time.

A "Celebration of Life" service will begin at 1:00 pm, May 3, 2014 at Crossroads Church of God with Pastors Randy Bargerstock and Tim Hubble as Celebrants.

There will be a "Gathering of Friends" Saturday, from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm at the church prior to the services.

Contributions may be made to Westminster Rural Fire Department or Allen County 4H Council.
