LIMA — Lowell Freeman, Sr., 88, passed away at 5:19 p.m. July 6, 2014 at St. Rita's Medical Center.
Lowell was born October 27, 1925 in Hazard, KY to Henry and Vanilla (Combs) Freeman who preceded him in death. On July 28, 1945, he married Freda Mae Livingston who preceded him in death on January 28, 2008.
He retired from the US Postal Service as a maintenance supervisor with 37 years service and also as a maintenance supervisor at the Lima Police Department.
He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW Post 1275 and the American Legion Post 96.
Survivors include: 4 Sons, Lowell (Shirley) Freeman Jr. of Lima, Richard (Margaret) Freeman of Indianapolis, Ernest "Calvin" (Dina) Freeman of Marion, and Eric Freeman of Milwaukee, WI; 4 Daughters, Reutina (Stanley) Daniels of Atlanta, GA, Angela (Steven) Morris of Atlanta, Ga, Juliann Freeman of Lima, Lisa (Kenneth) Qalls of Atlanta, GA; 36 Grandchildren and a host of Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren; a brother Rudolph Freeman of Detroit, MI; a sister, Esther Henderson of Milwaukee, WI; a Daughter-in-law, Joyce Freeman of Midwest, OK.
He was preceded in death by: 3 sons, Leif, Michael, and John Henry Freeman; 2 Daughters, Lois Janice and Jessica Freeman; 3 brothers, Alvin, John Henry "Junior", and Stonewall Freeman; 1 sister, Nancy Freeman.
Services will be held Saturday, July 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Shawnee Chapel with Brother Michael Skinner officiating the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Shawnee Chapel.
Military rites will be performed by the VFW Post 1275.
