Richard Luke


BELLEFONTAINE — Richard A. "Dick" Luke, 68, passed away at 7:41 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2013 at Lima Memorial Health Systems.

He was born March 17, 1945 in Lima to Levi and Rose (Gahret) Luke, who preceded him in death.

Richard was a professional soldier with the U. S. Army, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired in 1996 after serving our country for 28 years.

Richard was a member of VFW Post 1275 in Lima. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed planting and working in his huge garden.

He is survived by three brothers, Larry (Margert) Luke, of Estero, FL.; David Luke, of Lima; Steve (Cathy) Luke, of Lima; two sisters, Rosalyn (Stanley) Prater, of Lima and Shirley Anderson, of Cridersville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Bullit.

He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Evelyn Luke and a brother-in-law, William Anderson.

Funeral services will begin 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Chaplain Dick Coon will officiate the service. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites performed by the U. S. Army Honor Guard and VFW Post 1275.

Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
