Robert Pryor

ROBERT PRYOR

LIMARobert Troy Pryor was born on October 5, 1963 in the Chelsea section of New York City to Robert Olie and Emma Jean (White) Pryor. He was the eldest of three sons. His mother remarried to Chancey McQueen and relocated to Washington, DC. Robert attended Merritt Extended and H.D. Woodson Sr. High in the DC Public School system. Always industrious, he began working at a very young age at several movie theaters around town, DJing parties, and in construction.

Troy, as he was known to family and friends, found great pleasure in observing the building process and seeing his finished work. He made construction his lifetime vocation and specialized in plastering and drywall. He was a long-time member of Local Union #886 (Toledo).

Employment opportunities led Troy to briefly reside in North Carolina and Indiana in the 1990s. He eventually settled in Lima where he was a member of New Life Assembly Church. He assisted with the construction of their edifice and helped maintain it. Troy was mindful of the need to make a meaningful contribution to the world and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, the Restore, and the Big Brother program. He also found pleasure in the cinema, music, electronics, and martial arts.

Troy was very family-oriented and visited DC quite often – even returning to live for a few years in the late 2000s. Fatherhood transformed his outlook on life and he was devoted to raising his two daughters: Mia and Jeanelle.

Troy was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Jean McQueen; stepfather, Chancey McQueen; and youngest brother, Edward Roland McQueen. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Mia Rea and Jeanelle Reann Pryor; brother, Michael Todd Pryor; uncles, Sonny and Arthur White; aunts, Mildred Mims, Hilda Brown, Dorothy Kennedy, and Deborah White; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

A Memorial Service will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014 at the New Life Assembly Church. Chiles – Laman Funeral & Cremation Services was in charge of the local arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com
