DELPHOS — Ted Albert Koenig, 85, died at 7:32 a.m. July 2, 2014, at Vancrest of Delphos.
He was born Feb. 9, 1929, at home in Spencerville to Gerald and Amy Craft Koenig, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 26, 1952, he married Norma Cox, who survives in Delphos. They celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Mr. Koenig's true passion was fishing, especially for walleye on Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair. He also had a great love for his farm. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, Spencerville, and American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert. He also was a member of the Marv Herzog Polka Boosters and had been a former member of the Delphos Club. He was a 1947 graduate of Spencerville High School. He was self-employed and co-owner and manager of Ohio Electric Polishing Co. in Venedocia. He was an Army veteran, serving 18 months in Korea.
Survivors also include a daughter, Deborah (Robert H.) Trentman, of Delphos; a son, Lynn (Yvonne) Koenig, of Delphos; a brother, Jim (Martha) Koenig, of Spencerville; five grandchildren, Ryan (Melissa) Trentman, Aaron (Jennifer) Trentman, Alan (Lauren Rode) Trentman, Stephanie Koenig and Shelby Koenig; and four great-grandchildren, Kaiden Trentman, Garrett Trentman, Jacob Trentman and Caleb Trentman.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Mark Edward Koenig; a brother, Don Koenig; and two sisters, Gerry Miller and Janet Evans.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church. The Rev. Don Plescher will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery with military rites by VFW Post 6772.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home.
