William Runser


LIMA — William R. Runser, 91, of Lima, Ohio passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 9, 2014 at Lima Memorial Health System.

William was born on October 19, 1922 in Brownstown, Kansas to the late Austin H. and Helen (Wykes) Runser. On October 27, 1945, he married Claribel A. Rodabaugh who survives in Lima.

He was a lab technician at Standard Oil and retired in February 1985. During World War II he served in the Army Air Force. He was a member of Lima Baptist Temple and American Legion Post #96. He was a charter member of the Air Force Association, was formerly active in Boy Scout Troop #82 and served as a Boy Scout Commissioner.

Surviving are his wife Claribel Runser; three sons William D. (Nancy) Runser of Elida, Roger (Beth) Runser of Lima and Lloyd (Diani) Runser of Dover, Delaware; one daughter Beverly (Tim) Shimp of Terrace Park, Ohio; one sister Imogene Sutherland of Findlay, Ohio; eight grandchildren Lloyd A. (Avee) Runser, Joel (Lindsay) Shimp, Zachary (Melissa) Shimp, Benjamin Shimp, Nicholas (Jessica) Runser, Joseph Runser, Emily Runser and Robert Runser; great grandchildren Scott Shimp, Kaleb Runser and Reese Runser.

He was preceded in death by his grandson Justin Runser.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Lima Baptist Temple with Rev. Gary Hohman and Rev. Jerry Burton officiating.

Visitation will be on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES EASTSIDE CHAPEL from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima with VFW Post 1275 conducting military services.
