Charis Rex

LIMA — Charis Lea Rex, age 87, passed away July 3, 2018, at approximately 7:55 P.M. while traveling along Route 117 just outside of Westminster, OH. At the time of her passing, Charis was accompanied by her constant companion for the past ten years, Jack H. Harmon who also passed as a result of the incident. She was born December 14, 1930, to Roy and Ann Hobbs who preceded her in death. On June 20, 1948, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart Wilbur Rex.

After her 20 years of working as a pediatric LPN at Lima Memorial Hospital, Charis discovered her passion for pottery. Charis spent the next 43 years performing open houses and participating in juried craft shows where she displayed and sold her whimsical pottery. She was an experienced world traveler, visiting over 20 different countries in her lifetime. She loved spending time with her family and friends, collecting cats, and shopping until she was out of money.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur and her two sons Bruce and Blaine. Charis is survived by her sons Randy (Kimberly), Christopher (Lora), daughters-in-law, Beverly and Judy; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a very dear cousin, Sharon Price, whom she grew up with and her countless beloved friends.

Visitation will be on Monday from 2-8 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, where a Parish Wake service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Her Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, with Fr. Mike Sergi officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to the American Cancer Society or Lifeline of Ohio.
