DONALD REESE
LIMA — Donald A. Reese, 81, passed away at 10:33 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at his residence.
Donald was born December 12, 1932 in Lima to J. Arthur and Elizabeth D. (Parrott) Reese who preceded him in death. On August 22, 1953 he married Carolyn M. Lotz who preceded him in death on March 17, 2006.
Don was a 1950 Graduate of Central High School, 1954 Graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, he served in the US Army Finance Corps in Japan from 1954- 1956, past president of Lafayette-Jackson and Harrod Units of the Allen East PTA, 12 years on the Allen East School Board and held the office of President several times, past president of Lima Area Jaycees, former national director of the U.S. Jaycees, BPOE Lodge # 54, Allen County Republican Central and Executive committes for nearly 40 years, former member of the Lima Noon Optimists, St. Mark's Methodist Church, former Allen County trustees and clerks association, former trustee of county commisioners association of Ohio, Allen County Commisioner for 12 years from 1985 - 1996, past president of Lima Personnel Association, former Lima Area Chamber of Commerce Board Member, former member of the Lima Management Club, 40 year board member of Ohio Automatic Merchandising Association and 3 time president, National Federation of Independent Businesses, former member of the Governor's Solid Waste Advisory Committee, former board member of the West Central Ohio Solid Waste District, past president of the Lima Civic Center Foundation Board, avid traveler visiting 49 states and 4 continents.
Don had been an employee, partner, and president of Vend-Ar Service, Inc. starting in 1956.
Survivors include: 3 Sons, Wynn (Jane) Reese of Harrod, Kevin (Ann) Reese and Dennis A. (Denise) Reese of Lima, a Daughter, JoAnna (Don) Lowther of Castalia, OH: 10 Grandchildren, Jennifer Lowther, Dennis Lowther, Scott (Clarissa) Reese, Bob (Melanie) Reese, Alicia Reese, Jason (Sarah) Reese, Alyson Reese, Chris Reese, Heather Reese, and Brittany Reese: 10 Great Grandchildren: 2 Sisters, Basilda (Jon) Rockhold of Lima, and Tolanda (Dan) Kronfield of Perrysburg.
Services will be held at Noon Tuesday, March 18 at Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Mary Ann Tomlinson officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the US Army and VFW Post 1275.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m Monday and 1 hour prior to services on Tuesday at Shawnee Chapel.
Contributions may be made to Lima Civic Center Foundation.
